ELFAS Florida Standards Website
ELFAS offers research-based professional development that enhances teachers’ knowledge of the Language Arts Florida Standards and the use of formative assessments by equipping them with the knowledge to implement formative assessment tasks within their instructional cycle. Used during instruction, formative assessments provide teachers with observable evidence essential to the evaluation of students’ existing skills, knowledge, misconceptions and reasoning.
In order for teachers to make the most of this resource, they should login using the Single Sign On (SSO) option on the left side of the page. Your Novell login and password should work.
Once you have logged in, there are a number of resources that you can use in your classroom. The ELA Formative Assessments has a great rubric for K-8 ELA classrooms.
Family Engagement/Parental Involvement
The Bureau of Family and Community Outreach (BFCO) provides resources, recognition and technical assistance to families in an effort to increase family engagement that promotes their children's success in education. BFCO has the role of fostering wider and more substantive family and community involvement by identifying and sharing information with schools and districts about the many different ways to get involved in your child's education.
This website has resources for families and for educators to help parents support their children for successful educational experiences. To download the November Family Engagement Toolkit, go to http://www.fldoe.org/core/fileparse.php/7739/urlt/FEMToolkit.pdf.
