2019 - 2020 Instructional Materials Adoption: WORLD LANGUAGES AND CTE

January 2020: Instructional Materials Recommended for Adoption: 

Career and Technical Education (CTE) and World Languages

Subject area committees have made K-12 CTE and World Languages Instructional Materials recommendations which will be presented for approval at the March 24, 2020, School Board meeting.  The public can access these materials online by visiting by clicking this link, Public Review UPDATED 012920, to review the resources that are being recommended.  If the hyperlinks in the access document will not work, please try using a different web browser. Google Chrome or Firefox are preferred browsers.  Public comment on these materials can be made at any time, including the March 13, 2020, Regular School Board Workshop that begins at 9:00 am or the March 24, 2020, Regular School Board Meeting that begins at 5:30 pm.

Per district policy and Florida Statute, a parent of a student enrolled in an Escambia County public school or a resident of Escambia County may contest the district School Board’s adoption of a specific instructional material by filing a petition, using the “Motion to Contest the Adoption of an Instructional Material” form within 30 calendar days after the adoption by the School Board. The full policy can be read in section 4.03 of the Rules and Procedures of the District School Board.

The Curriculum Department continues to work closely with schools to support and improve student achievement at all levels.  Curriculum specialists and adoption committee members are currently conducting the review process for the 2019-2020 Instructional Materials Adoption for Career and Technical Education and Foreign Languages. 2019 - 2020 Instructional Materials Adoption: World Languages and CTE

Adoption and Implementation of the Benchmarks for Excellent Student Thinking (B.E.S.T.) Standards

Professional development for teachers will begin in the 2020-2021 school year to support the implementation timeline.  Professional development should continue during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years to ensure full implementation prior to the new statewide assessment during the 2022-2023 school year.  

The FLDOE will call for a K-12 ELA instructional materials adoption to take place during the 2020-2021 school year.  State-adopted K-12 ELA materials will be available for districts to purchase during the 2021-2022 school year.  The K-12 mathematics instructional materials adoption will take place during 2021-2022 school year.  State-adopted K-12 mathematics materials will be available for districts to purchase during the 2022-2023 school year.
