BIOGRAPHY | ||||
Dr. Edler is a native Pensacolian. She is a widow, the parent of one biological son, Michael and six adopted children before she was 25 years old; her nieces and nephews, Barbara, Rosa Lee, Nathalia, Step, Debra and Nathan. Dr. Edler’s role as an advocate for children began with the special academic and medical needs of two of her children. Dr. Edler’s husband, Norman died in 2011 Dr. Edler has always had a passion for quality education, instilled in her by her mother, Estella, who could not read or write, and as demonstrated in her ability to fulfill her role as a parent, work full time and complete her education at the same time. She has a passion for the value of a quality education for all children of Escambia County regardless of their life situations or circumstances. Dr. Edler will work diligently toward assuring that children will have a fair and just opportunity to reach their individual potential. Dr. Edler developed and implemented the District One Medical Foster Care Program. She worked on a committee to develop the program statewide. Prior to employment at the University Of West Florida, Department of Social Work, Dr. Edler retired from the Florida Department of Health. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with children and their families in various capacities. |
