Mrs. Teresa Cardwell is the school district’s nominee for the 2021 Florida school-related Employee of the Year. This program recognizes outstanding education support personnel for the significant contributions they make to their schools and district school systems. The program honors one state representative and four finalists.

Teresa Cardwell is a teacher assistant within the Alternative Education Department at the Juvenile Justice School. She has been with the district for twenty-six years and in this position for twelve years.  Teresa Cardwell has shown dedication and exemplary performance as a teacher assistant at the Juvenile Justice School.  She has been dedicated to the Escambia County School District and has spent the last twelve years devoted to helping at-risk students. Not only is Teresa committed to teaching and assisting students each day, she has shown an exemplary commitment to the overall improvement of the school environment.

In addition to Teresa’s work ethic, experience, and ideas throughout the school year, she has taken it upon herself to improve important data-entry processes that has streamlined the process of onboarding new students.  Any time Mrs. Cardwell is presented with a new task, she accepts the challenge with excitement and a pleasant attitude.  It is a pleasure to observe how Mrs. Cardwell interacts with some of the most at-risk students in our district.  She encourages and motivates each student to be his or her very best.  Her respect for them at a time when they may be feeling very low is inspiring!

Above all, Teresa Cardwell is the State of Florida Employee of the Year because of her consistent and unwavering dedication to her family, the students of Escambia County, and her team at the Juvenile Justice School.

Mrs. Cardwell received a plaque from the school district.
