BTWHS Aquatic Center Announces Summer Hours for ECSD Employees
Posted 5/20/22

The Aquatics Center at Booker T. Washington High School will be offering summer hours for all ECSD employees this summer.

Beginning May 31, and running until the end of summer (July 29th), Washington’s pool will be open to all ECSD employees and their spouses, who are covered by ECSD’s health insurance, for water aerobics and/or lap swimming.

The new hours are Monday - Thursday from 1:00-2:00pm and 3:30-4:30pm, with the exception of any day the Escambia County School District is closed.  The Aquatic Center will be closed the week of June 20th - June 24th.

Aqua jogging belts and other aquatic exercise apparatuses for use in exercising in the pool will be available, as well.

Some of the benefits of water aerobics include:

1.    Enhancing balance and coordination

2.    Improving cardiovascular strength

3.    Low-impact exercise

4.    Losing weight, burning calories and toning muscles

5.    Aiding in healing and recovering from chronic conditions

Staff recommends participants bring a bottle of water in order to rehydrate.

The six-lane indoor pool is heated and a lifeguard is on duty at all times. ECSD employees will have access to locker rooms to shower and change and may bring a lock to secure belongings during classes.

Employees will need to present their badge for ID verification and will be required to sign a consent form on the first day. To access the pool, enter the parking lot by McDonalds and park in the back parking lot near the softball field. Walk down the driveway with all the portables and enter the building through the double brown doors.
