Classroom Practices

Teachers implement a curriculum to promote student information literacy, digital citizenship and Internet safety.

Examples and Evidence

Digital Citizenship is part of the Florida ELA standards and is supported by teachers throughout the District.  Resources to teach and educate students are posted on the District Website and in our Instructional Learning Management System (Schoolnet). Teachers utilize the resources in their classrooms and with students and parents throughout the year.

Technology Integration Toolkit

Teachers are aware of and regularly use the school system's established process for vetting and procuring online services.

Examples and Evidence

Faculty and staff are provided information through a a variety of methods throughout the District.  Resources and information is posted on District and School sites.  The District's process for vetting and procuring online services are managed through the Curriculum and Instruction Department.  Media Services coordinates and provides procedures for all Textbook purchases (including those of online resources).  District committees and Task Forces review and recommend purchases to C&I and District Leadership.

Teachers model appropriate use and protection of student data for their students.

Teachers communications to parents include clear information about the collection, use and protection of student data.

Examples and Evidence

Escambia County School District teachers' communications to parents follow District policies and inform parents as to the collection, use, and protection of student data. Teachers refer parents to the Families Portal on the District website and provide links and information on individual School and Teacher webpages.
